Welcome to Laura Ashley The Manor

Dating back to the mid-16th century, Laura Ashley The Manor is the former house of Commander Sir Arthur Trevor Dawson, which was transformed into a private country club in the 1930s and a hotel in the 1960s. The history of the hotel lives on through original features, such as the front door which was originally part of the dungeons in Lewes Castle, and the Italian carved columns supporting the ornate mantelpiece above the fireplace are thought to be made using wood from ships involved in the battle of the Spanish Armada.

Now a boutique Laura Ashley Hotel with 49 beautifully appointed rooms, The Manor’s peaceful setting in 10 acres of gardens and natural woodland make it a desirable destination for visitors to London. The expansive gardens were originally planned by Mr W Innes Stuckey, and some of the shrubs and rhododendrons are the same age as the house itself.

The hotel has been awarded 4 AA silver stars and 2 Rosettes for its Cavendish Restaurant, which offers a range of treats including delicious afternoon tea, a much-loved tradition within our walls.

One of London’s best kept secrets, Laura Ashley The Manor is just 9 miles by road and 20 minutes by rail into the capital, making it the perfect retreat whether you are seeking an intimate break, an elegant wedding, or an inspiring meeting and conference venue.

My team and I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful hotel.
